So You Want to Learn Magic Part 2

In the first outing, we talked about maintaining a positive disposition (please refer to So You Want to Learn Magic blog) as the first step to becoming a practicing magician and have actual results on things-- Sorry, on "positive things" you want to have results with. So after achieving a positive frame of mind at all times, the next step towards the path of magicianship is belief in oneself.

Having not an iota of a doubt to what you want to happen to manifest in the physical plane is certainly a very important attitude to develop. Having even one thought of doubt is enough to dispel whatever positive magic you are trying to do. Notice how people with extreme determination achieve their goals no matter how insurmountable the odds they face. Like for example, any Olympic gold medalist will attest to the power of believing in oneself. They know if they train hard and push their selves to the limit, they could achieve gold and glory. Although they are not magicians in a sense, but the attitude of believing in their selves is enough to make the cosmic forces to work in their favor.

Another examples are those suffering from cancer diseases. Sometimes we hear news of people just getting well despite getting afflicted with life threatening diseases which we perceive as miracles as modern science cannot really explain what transpired. The patient who, lets say has cancer, suddenly gets cured despite doctors' findings that he should have been dead but is still walking and breathing could be quite buffling, but to me, that person believed that he he will get well and just refused to give up. This is the only explanation why people have different religions and pray to different gods but when they pray to their god and really believed that what they prayed for will happen. They had tremendous faith. Praying is actually a form of believing in oneself but using religion to trigger the intended effect have backfired for some people. Sometimes when prayers become unanswered, people blame their deity and loses faith and a lot of times turns to vices and get wrapped in negativism which is really what we don't want to fall into. However, I am not saying we don't need religion but actually I would advise you to stay to your religion. Since you were young, and you have been attending church or praying the rosary or novenas, observing whatever traditions your religion has been observing, you actually have been developing a sort of power trigger in you to tap into this amazing power of belief. So those people changing religions would actually find themselves less effective magicians as they would have to restart building up some unconscious foundation of one's power.

So again, power of belief in oneself is another key to remember always. Without this, nothing will ever come to fruition of whatever you are trying to bring forth to the physical plane.

To practice power of belief, start with little things that you can back with deeds. Like for example, you want to be the number one salesman in your office, then believe that you are and then back it up with things like doing more sales calls, posting more ads and whatever that will help you achieve your goal. Believing in oneself of course is one thing however we have to remember that doing nothing, a negative thing, will counter your belief. This means, believing and backing it up with deeds are two sides of a coin. Now, when you see your little goals becoming real, you can now try doing greater things like aspiring for promotion to higher position or whatever will meet your criteria of big things.
